The Maison de Victor Hugo is available for hire by companies and individuals looking for a prestigious setting for their conference, seminar or reception. By holding your event at the Maison de Victor Hugo, you are supporting the museum and its cultural programme.

Apartment

Victor Hugo spent 16 years in this apartment in the Hôtel de Rohan-Guéménée. It is one of the most stylish residences on the Place des Vosges. The galleries’ rich collections portray the man and his work, the writer and artist. This is the only museum that displays the décors created by the poet.  Entertain your guests in this unique venue, with views over the Place des Vosges, where the great man's presence can still be felt.

The Maison de Victor Hugo reopened in spring 2021 with a redesigned layout, new learning space, and a café overlooking the courtyard garden.

Garden

In the 18th century, the Hôtel de Roahn-Guéménée’s quadrangle served as a courtyard for the arrival of carriages.

The museum wanted to design a new, 300 m2 garden, drawing inspiration from the garden of the rue Plumet in Les Misérables, which represented for Victor Hugo the ideal “of any garden where nature and time regain their rights”.  The project was entrusted to the Goutal Agency and the landscape designer, Aline Le Cœur. The garden’s chestnut trees have been preserved. A large central alleyway has been cleared to host events and the café terrace can accommodate a standing reception for up to 150 people or a seated dinner for up to 60.

Apartment

With a surface area of 280m², the Maison de Victor Hugo can accommodate a wide range of events in its Red Drawing Room or Chinese Room:

  • Private, evening tour of the museum with a glass of champagne
  • Press briefing, work seminar or conference
  • Reception, breakfast, cocktail party, or sit-down dinner
  • Filming or photo shoot

Equipment available

Chairs, projection screen, TV, sound system, tables, lecterns and whiteboard.

Guests can visit the apartment and current exhibition on the 1st floor.

The museum can put you in touch with an event management agency, caterer or a range of entertainers, such as musicians, comedians, or magicians for a themed evening.

Prices

Prices vary depending on the space hired and the duration of the event. There is an administration charge to cover the cost of venue staff in addition to the price of the hire. Speakers can also be booked (in French, English or Spanish).

Guests will also be given a tour of the apartment and current exhibition.
